Out of the $2 billion spent on advertising food and beverage products to youth, only 1% is spent on presenting healthy options. So, the University of Wisconsin Extension has enlisted some help in making healthy produce a little more glamorous.
Actresses Kristen Bell and Jessica Alba, superstar athlete Stephen Curry, and several NFL players are joining their new advertising campaign to encourage more fruit and veggie consumption. The goal is to market fruits and veggies the same way other brands market popular processed foods. They’re hoping that a big push like this will allow fresh produce to come into the “food advertising limelight” to make produce more accessible and attractive to young people.
The campaign is currently running through November, with the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill evaluating its impact. Read more about the advertising campaign here.More From: University of Wisconsin
