Cooking for Kids is Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension’s culinary training program designed to change the school nutrition landscape across the state. Trained chefs will partner with 15 school nutrition professionals to provide fresher, tastier food in their school cafeterias. The chefs will help develop a new menu for each school, procure proper ingredients and equipment, create marketing strategies, and teach school nutrition professionals how to create healthy and flavorful meals from scratch.
“There’s no doubt school nutrition professionals are as committed as anyone to our students,” said Deana Hildebrand, Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension nutrition specialist and lead coordinator for Cooking for Kids. “These school districts are proving how serious they are about that commitment by taking advantage of the chance to partner with a chef to enhance their school meal program.”
